Precision CNC Machined Components, Made to Your Drawing

Alongside our flange and fitting business, Tesco runs a full precision machining shop. Give us a drawing, a 3D model or even a worn-out sample, and we will turn out the part to the exact dimensions and tolerances on it. Customers come to us for production batches of a repeat part, for a single prototype, and very often for an obsolete component that is no longer available anywhere — we simply machine a new one from the print. Everything is cut on CNC, so the first piece and the thousandth piece come out the same.

No catalogue, by design. This is a make-to-order machining service, not a fixed product list. The photographs on this page are examples of jobs that have passed through the shop — your part will be made to your own drawing.

Any Component, Any Dimension — to Your Specification

If you can draw it, we can machine it. There is no standard size or shape limit on this page — we manufacture any component to the drawing or dimensions specified by the customer. Send a 2D drawing, a STEP/IGES 3D model, or a physical sample to copy, and we will produce it in the material and tolerance you need, as a one-off or a full production run.

Our Machinery — Among the Best CNC Machines in the World

A machined part is only as good as the machine that cuts it, so we have invested accordingly. Our machine list is headed by some of the most capable CNC machines available anywhere — among the top two to three CNC models in the world today — supported by a deep line-up that lets us take a part from bar or forging to finished, inspected component in-house:

Machine TypeWhat It Does
Multi-axis CNC turning centresHigh-accuracy turning of shafts, spindles, bushes and round parts with live tooling
CNC turn-mill (mill-turn) centresTurning and milling in one set-up — fewer re-clampings, better concentricity, faster delivery
Vertical & horizontal machining centres (VMC / HMC)3-, 4- and 5-axis milling, drilling, boring and tapping of blocks, housings and prismatic parts
Vertical turning lathes (VTL)Large-diameter and heavy components — big gears, ring gears and housings
Gear cutting & grindingGear hobbing and finishing, plus grinding for fine surface finishes and tight tolerances

Tolerances, Inspection & Certification

Every component is machined to the tolerances called out on the drawing and verified before it leaves the shop. Critical diameters, bores, concentricity and surface finish are checked on precision instruments; material is confirmed by EN 10204 Type 3.1 mill test certificate and positive material identification (PMI / XRF) on request. As an ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturer, we keep full traceability from the raw bar or forging through to the finished, inspected part — and can machine from your free-issue material or supply certified stock ourselves.

How to Order — Send Your Drawing

1
Send the drawing or sample. A 2D drawing, a 3D model (STEP / IGES) or a physical part to copy — whatever you have.
2
Specify material & quantity. Tell us the grade, the quantity, and any critical tolerances, surface finish or heat treatment.
3
Review & quote. We check the part for manufacturability, suggest any cost-saving improvements, and send a quotation.
4
First-article approval. On approval we machine a sample for dimensional sign-off before committing the batch.
5
Production & despatch. We run the batch, inspect every critical dimension, and ship with EN 10204 3.1 certification and PMI on request.

Frequently Asked Questions — CNC Machined Components

What are CNC machined components?

CNC machined components are metal parts cut to shape on computer-controlled machine tools — turning centres, machining centres and turn-mill machines — that follow a programmed path from the part drawing. The result is a part made to exact dimensions and tolerances, repeatable from one piece to thousands. We machine entirely to the customer’s drawing or sample, so there is no fixed range — if it can be drawn, we can machine it.

Can you make any component to my drawing?

Yes — this is the core of what we do. Send a 2D drawing, a 3D model (STEP/IGES) or even a physical sample, and we machine the component to those exact dimensions and tolerances. There is no standard catalogue; every job is made to the customer’s specification, whether it is a single prototype, an obsolete spare that is no longer available, or a repeat production batch.

What CNC machines do you have?

Our machine list is led by some of the most capable CNC machines in the world today — among the top two to three CNC models currently in existence — backed by multi-axis CNC turning centres, vertical and horizontal machining centres (VMC / HMC), CNC turn-mill (mill-turn) centres and vertical turning lathes (VTL) for large diameters. This mix lets us turn, mill, drill, bore, thread and gear-cut in one controlled workflow and hold tight, repeatable tolerances on everything from small precision parts to large heavy components.

What types of components do you machine?

A broad range — shafts and spindles, gears and split ring gears, housings and manifold blocks, bushes and sleeves, rollers, flanged hubs, valve spools and cartridges, couplings, and bespoke profiled parts. Because everything is made to drawing, the list is open-ended; these are simply examples of the work that comes through the shop.

What materials and grades can you machine?

The full range we carry: stainless steel (304/304L, 316/316L, 321, 347, 904L), duplex and super duplex (2205, 2507), alloy and chrome-moly steel (A182 F5/F11/F22/F91, EN8/EN19/EN24, 4140), carbon steel (A105, mild steel), LTCS (A350 LF2), Monel 400/K500, Inconel 600/625/718, Hastelloy C276/C22, titanium Grade 2/5, and copper-nickel 90/10 and 70/30. Brass, bronze and aluminium are machined on request. The grade is chosen to suit the component’s service.

What tolerances can you hold?

Tolerances depend on the feature and material, but precision turned and milled features are routinely held to a few microns to a few hundredths of a millimetre, with fine surface finishes and tight concentricity and roundness on critical diameters. We work to the tolerances called out on your drawing and confirm them by inspection before despatch — tell us the critical dimensions and we will advise what is achievable.

Do you make one-off parts or only production runs?

Both. We make single prototypes and obsolete spare parts as readily as repeat production batches. Because the parts are programmed from your drawing, a one-off and a batch follow the same controlled process, so a single trial piece can be scaled to volume without changing the result.

What machining processes do you offer?

CNC turning, CNC milling (3-, 4- and 5-axis), turn-mill machining, drilling and boring, internal and external threading, gear cutting and hobbing, slotting and keyway cutting, and grinding for fine finishes. Multi-axis turn-mill machines let many of these operations be done in a single set-up, which improves accuracy and shortens lead time.

How do I get a quote for a machined part?

Send the drawing or 3D model with the material grade, quantity and any critical tolerances or surface-finish requirements. We review it for manufacturability, suggest any improvements that save cost without affecting function, and return a quote. On approval we can supply a first-article sample for sign-off before running the full batch.

Are the components inspected and certified?

Yes. Components are checked dimensionally against the drawing, with critical features verified on precision instruments, and material is confirmed by mill test certificate (EN 10204 Type 3.1) and PMI / XRF on request. Tesco Steel & Engineering is an ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturer and exporter from Mumbai, India.

Can you machine large or heavy components?

Yes. Our vertical turning lathes and large machining centres handle big-diameter and heavy parts such as large gears, ring gears and housings, while the turning and turn-mill centres cover small and medium precision work. We confirm the size envelope once we see the part drawing.

Do you machine from our material or supply it too?

Either way. We can machine from material you free-issue, or supply the bar, forging, casting or plate ourselves from certified stock in the required grade and machine the finished component — a single-source route that keeps full traceability from raw material to finished, inspected part.
